Required Documentation

The Permit Center for the city of Alameda is located on the bottom floor of 2263 Santa Clara Avenue. The Permit Center is open Monday through Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. — 3:30 p.m. Application submittals are accepted until 3:00 p.m. (a half-hour before closing). Service between 3:30 p.m. — 5:00 p.m. are available by appointment only. A "Planning" permit, not a "Building" permit, is what is required for new windows.

If Owners want to save a few hundred dollars and pull their own permit (most installers will do it and charge a small fee), the following items need to be supplied by the Owner.

  1. Completed permit application (filled out as the OWNER)
  2. Key plan number each of the windows being replaced
  3. Signed approval document from the Crown Harbor HOA to avoid a City of Alameda Design Review
  4. Window/door schedule (start with your Crown Harbor floor plan and number the windows) for replacement units coordinated with key plan (see last page of guidelines)
  5. Pictures of the Unit showing the window style (black and white are OK)
  6. Manufacturer brochure of the windows that will be installed
  7. Money! See fee schedule. The fee structure coordinates with increments of 5 windows.
