Required Documentation
The Permit Center for the city of Alameda is located on the bottom floor of 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.
The Permit Center is open Monday through Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. — 3:30 p.m.
Application submittals are accepted until 3:00 p.m. (a half-hour before closing).
Service between 3:30 p.m. — 5:00 p.m. are available by appointment only.
A "Planning" permit, not a "Building" permit, is what is required for new windows.
If Owners want to save a few hundred dollars and pull their own permit (most installers will do it and charge a small fee), the following items need to be supplied by the Owner.
- Completed permit application (filled out as the OWNER)
- Key plan number each of the windows being replaced
- Signed approval document from the Crown Harbor HOA to avoid a City of Alameda Design Review
- Window/door schedule (start with your Crown Harbor floor plan and number the windows) for replacement units coordinated with key plan (see last page of guidelines)
- Pictures of the Unit showing the window style (black and white are OK)
- Manufacturer brochure of the windows that will be installed
- Money! See fee schedule. The fee structure coordinates with increments of 5 windows.
